Fil-Canadian comic Mikey Bustos talks of YouTube and hotdogs

For a GMA News Online exclusive interview, Fil-Canadian comic Mikey Bustos recently sat down with news anchor Howie Severino and his young son Alon, a big fan of Bustos, to field questions sent by readers via Twitter and Facebook.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Bustos is currently in the Philippines to promote his latest project: the YouTube “movie” titled “Prison Dancer,” an interactive web series set to debut in March, which was inspired by the dancing inmates in Cebu.

Bustos first tasted fame in 2003 when he became the first Filipino to make it into any of the “Idol” singing competitions worldwide, placing eighth.

In 2008, Bustos released his debut album “Memoirs of a Superhero,” which became a hit in the United States, Canada, Dubai, Australia, and China. For this album, he also earned a nomination for a Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Adult Contemporary category in 2010.

However, Bustos’ biggest break came through YouTube and his “Pilipino bidyos," a series of wacky Filipino "language tutorials" that have gone viral online.

On the web exclusive interview, Severino, GMA News Online Editor-in-Chief and GMA Vice President for New Media, and Alon asked Bustos a number of questions that ranged from how to gain fame via YouTube to whether the Fil-Canadian eats hotdogs. Watch and enjoy! - GMA News
