MANILA, Philippines – Dingdong Dantes is not perturbed by alleged grumbling of some people over his recent nomination as Best Actor in the upcoming Golden Screen Awards.
According to Dantes, he is not one to lose sleep over somebody’s poor estimation of his abilities as actor. He adds that as much as he respects his critics’ opinion, he’d rather that he remain focused on trying to better his craft.
He thanked the Entertainment Press Society, Inc. for the recommendation, admitting that he was very flattered with their vote of confidence.
This isn’t the first time that Dantes’ nomination for an acting award has been questioned by detractors. His inclusion in the Best Actor category of the 2011 Metro Manila Festival was also questioned by some, this, even after he eventually won it.
Still, Dantes shrugs it all off saying that he is sensible enough to realize that he can’t please everybody. What matters most, he says, is that, at the end of the day, his fans are actually happy with his performance.
Meanwhile, Dantes is busying himself with philanthropic work, donating a house Mar. 8 for Gawad Kalinga at Banyuhay Village, Barangay Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal.
Dantes said that he was just fulfilling a promise he made to its recipients, the Gonzaga family, whose plight he was made aware of after he met them for a special documentary he made for GMA’s “Report Card.”
Nonetheless, he insists that his charitable projects shouldn’t be construed as a sign of sorts that he is jumping into politics anytime soon.
