Kit Thompson OK with frontal nudity if he likes the script

While he said he wasn’t looking forward to flaunting his body on the big screen, actor Kit Thompson claimed he would do so if work required it.

Kit became controversial because of his role in the 2014 Cinemalaya entry “#Y,” where his character Ping Ronquillo had a steamy shower scene. In one media gathering, Kit was asked whether he would be okay to doing frontal nudity, something similar to what American actor Michael Fassbender did in “Shame.”

Kit replied: “I’m open to anything. If I like the script, I will do it. Thankfully, there hasn’t been any similar requirement in the projects that I’ve done so far… When I do work, it’s not about me, but the character.”

Kit was part of the 4th season of the reality series “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition.” After his stint in the ABS-CBN program, he bagged other projects like “Kahit Puso’y Masug atan,” “Must Be Love,” “Galema” and “Forevermore.”

Kit then went to New York City and then to Los Angeles in California to study acting. “It was more of a personal thing. I love what I’m doing so I really want to be the best that I can be,” he declared.

Kit’s trip to the United States was after he got arrested at a music event in Clark, Pampanga, for marijuana use. The 21-year-old actor claimed to have learned from the experience, but refused to elaborate.

“Feeling free, I guess,” he explained. “You know, I was still young then. It’s all part of growing up, committing mistakes and learning from them.”

When he returned to Manila, Kit joined the cast of Cathy Garcia-Molina’s “The Hows of Us.” He is currently working on another Cinemalaya entry, Joji Alonso’s romantic drama “Belle Douleur,” with Mylene Dizon; as well as a digital web series, where he plays a lawyer.

“I don’t mind going bolder, but it’s not really heading in that direction with the projects I’m doing so far,” said Kit.

Amanda Bynes details struggle with drug abuse, says she is nearly 4 years sober

After years out of the spotlight, Amanda Bynes is enrolled in fashion school and is nearly four years sober.

The actress, 32, gave a tell-all to Paper magazine about her experience with drug abuse and why she stopped acting in an article published today, Nov. 27.

Millennials would know her as a stand-out in her generation, thanks to her natural comedic timing. By 13, she hosted her eponymous sketch comedy show “The Amanda Show.” Bynes was a favorite in headlining early 2000s teen comedies such as “Big Fat Liar,” “What a Girl Wants” and “She’s the Man.”

But from 2010 onwards, news reports documented erratic behavior including 2010 tweets that stated she had retired from acting and that, a month later, she was “unretired.”

She would be arrested for driving under the influence and was accused of hit-and-runs. She also became notorious on Twitter for attacking other celebrities and for threatening the media. She would deny that she was on drugs, despite being arrested on drug charges in May 2013.

In the Paper interview, she reiterated that she didn’t drink alcohol, as she disliked its taste. But she owned up to her drug abuse and to the problematic behavior with much remorse.

She said she started smoking weed at 16 and later on experimented with harder drugs like Molly and ecstasy. When she found out about Adderall, which was labeled as a “skinny pill,” she got hooked on it, too.

Her drug abuse would kill her career, forcing her to drop out of the 2011 film “Hall Pass” when she couldn’t perform properly while high on marijuana.

Without work, she felt she had no purpose in life. To fill the void, she spent her days getting stoned at home while watching TV and tweeting.

“I’m really ashamed and embarrassed with the things I said. I can’t turn back time but if I could, I would. And I’m so sorry to whoever I hurt and whoever I lied about because it truly eats away at me. It makes me feel so horrible and sick to my stomach and sad,” she said in the interview.

“Those days of experimenting [with substances] are long over,” she promised, crediting her parents for helping her recover. “I’m not sad about it and I don’t miss it because I really feel ashamed of how those substances made me act.”

"When I was off of them, I was completely back to normal and immediately realized what I had done—it was like an alien had literally invaded my body. That is such a strange feeling,” she said.

Bynes plans to return to acting and hopes for different types of roles. She enrolled in the Los Angeles school Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2014. This November, she will earn her Associate of Arts degree in Merchandise Product Development and will take a bachelor’s degree in January.  Niña V. Guno /ra

Here’s the Deal Behind Alicia Keys’ #NoMakeup Music Video Look

Last month, Alicia Keys released the video for her newest single “In Common” where she’s seen without any makeup on. Don’t get us wrong, she looks beautiful with and without makeup, but we wonder why she decided to go for that look.

In the latest issue of Lenny Letter, Alicia reveals that she’s been going for the au naturel look ever since she worked with photographer Paola Kudacki for her upcoming album. “It wasn’t until I walked into one of my first shoots for my new album recently that the issue was front and center again,” she writes. “I’d just come from the gym, had a scarf under my baseball cap, and the beautiful photographer Paola (never met a Paola I didn’t like) said, ‘I have to shoot you right now, like this! The music is raw and real, and these photos have to be too!'”

The photo Paola took is now the official cover art for her single, “In Common.”

Aside from her music video, Alicia has also fronted the latest issues of Vanity Fair and Fault Magazine without any makeup on. She adds on her column that she hopes this #nomakeup trend becomes a revolution among women.

“I felt powerful because my initial intentions realized themselves. My desire to listen to myself, to tear down the walls I built over all those years, to be full of purpose, and to be myself! The universe was listening to those things I’d promised myself, or maybe I was just finally listening to the universe, but however it goes, that’s how this whole #nomakeup thing began,” she writes. “I hope to God it’s a revolution. ‘Cause I don’t want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.”

Mark Wahlberg haunted by ‘racist’ past

BOSTON, United States — A former prosecutor who secured a civil rights injunction against a young Mark Wahlberg after he hurled rocks and racial epithets at black schoolchildren says he shouldn’t be pardoned for an attack on two Asian men two years later.

Judith Beals, a former Massachusetts assistant attorney general, said Tuesday she believes in “forgiveness and reconciliation” but Wahlberg’s request should be denied because he hasn’t acknowledged the racial element of his crimes in documents he filed with the state last November.

“That acknowledgement of the crime and that facing of history is absolutely critical in the issuing of a pardon,” she said.

Wahlberg, who became a rapper and then an A-list actor nominated for an Oscar, acknowledged in his pardon application that he was high on marijuana and drugs at the time. He said he’s since dedicated himself to becoming a better person as an adult.

“I’ve been looking for redemption (since) the day I woke up and realized that I done some horrific things and was on a path of self-destruction, as well as causing a lot of people harm,” Wahlberg, 43, said in a December interview. “When I decided to go and petition for a pardon, it wasn’t based on the things I accomplished in my career. It’s been the things I’ve been able to do in my personal life: giving back to the community and helping kids, especially inner-city kids and at-risk youth and kids growing up in that same situation.”

Wahlberg wants to be officially cleared of a 1988 incident in which he hit a Vietnamese man in the head with a wooden stick while trying to steal alcohol from a convenience store. Wahlberg, then 16, punched another Vietnamese man in the face while trying to avoid police.

He ended up being convicted as an adult of assault and other charges and was sentenced to three months in jail. He was released after about 45 days.

Beals said what made Wahlberg’s 1988 crimes unique was that, just two years earlier, he had been issued a court order triggering criminal charges in the event he committed another hate crime.

According to court filings in that 1986 case, which Beals prosecuted, Wahlberg and two white friends chased three black siblings in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, throwing rocks and yelling racial epithets.

The following day, Wahlberg and a larger group of white friends harassed a group of mostly black fourth-graders until an ambulance driver intervened.

Beals argued that Wahlberg’s status and wealth should not place him in a better position than others to erase his misdeeds. She also suggested hate crimes should be held to a higher standard.

Representatives for Wahlberg, whose movies include “Boogie Nights” and “Lone Survivor,” didn’t return messages seeking comment Tuesday.

Sandra Bullock’s encounter with stalker described

LOS ANGELES – Sandra Bullock’s recent encounter with a stalker in her home reads like a scene from a scary movie in newly released documents, painting a portrait of an obsessed fan who described himself as her “husband.”

Joshua James Corbett, 39, was later found to have a stash of illegal weapons including two fully automatic rifles and a machine gun at his home. But he was unarmed when he broke into Bullock’s home, affidavits in the case said.

Investigators said the sleeping actress was awakened at 6:30 a.m. on June 8 by banging noises, opened her bedroom door and saw a dark-clad stranger moving toward the stairs.

Bullock, who has portrayed brave, strong women on screen, took quick action, locking the door and summoning police.

“Sandy, I’m sorry!” the man shouted as he was being taken away. “Don’t press charges.”

Police determined Corbett had scaled the gates of the home and forced open a locked sunroom glass door. He remains in jail awaiting trial and could face more than seven years in prison.

The incident shocked Hollywood and resurrected memories of other stars plagued by stalkers.

Actress Rebecca Schaeffer was slain by a stalker in the 1980s and her death led to tightened laws to make stalking a crime and keep stalkers away from their prey.

Madonna, Steven Spielberg, Ryan Seacrest, Paris Hilton and others became stalking victims but were not harmed.

The writings of Corbett, detailed in a search warrant affidavit filed by the Bullock case investigators, revealed the depth of his obsession. Many stalkers have been ordered to undergo psychological counseling as part of their sentences.

The newly released affidavits gave the first detailed account of what happened inside Bullock’s home.

Corbett had a letter he had written to the actress the day before the break-in professing his love for her and insisting he was her husband and the father of her son.

“I love you. You are very special to me and without you in my life there is only misery,” said the letter….You are my girl!…You are my wife by law, the law of God and you belong to me and me to you.”

Corbett revealed he had been watching Bullock’s movements, saw her return home from an American Film Institute gala on June 5 and wished he could follow her inside the gates to her house. “I will be waiting by those gates when you decide to open them to me…,” he wrote.

At another point, he told the actress, “You are so hot and intelligent, lissome and taught (sic).”

The letter was signed, “Your husband, Joshua James Corbett.”

The police affidavit said Bullock arrived home about 1 a.m., showered and went to bed. She was awakened early the next morning by banging noises she thought were coming from her third-floor workout room. The sound then shifted to the living room and she became concerned for her safety, the affidavit said.

Police said Corbett was walking down the stairs when they arrived. He acknowledged breaking in, they said, and told them he was trying to alert Bullock that her security was not impervious to intruders. He said he didn’t want to upset Bullock and thought she would not be home.

The question of why Corbett was stockpiling arms at his home and at an airport hangar remained unanswered.

Claudine Barretto, ex-aide swap theft raps

From accused to accuser.

A former personal assistant of Claudine Barretto has filed a complaint for theft against the actress, more than four months after the alleged incident in Marikina City.

In a complaint-affidavit filed in the Marikina City prosecutor’s office on Sept. 11, Dessa Cadelario Patilan said she lost more than P13,550 worth of valuables when Barretto went to search Patilan’s room in the actress’ house at Loyola Grand Villa on May 10.

The search happened after Barretto accused her of theft and reported this to the local police station, she said.

Patilan alleged that Barretto took her cash amounting to P10,700 and her tablet computer, and asked that the actress pay some P113,000 to cover the cost of the lost items as well as moral and exemplary damages, apart from lawyer’s fees.

Sought for comment, Barretto’s legal counsel Ferdinand Topacio said he and his client had yet to receive a copy of the complaint.

“That’s what we complained about (against Patilan),” he said, referring to the qualified theft charges they earlier filed against her. He said Patilan was just getting back at the actress with a “countercharge.’’

He said Patilan “was dismissed from service (by Barretto) a long time ago’’ and that it was puzzling that she was filing the complaint only now.

The actress would issue a statement today to answer the complaint, Topacio said.

From Cobonpue atrium chandelier to the Rolls Royce–the tower is oh so Willie

The waiter serves thick, hot chocolate in a dainty cup with a dollop of whipped cream on the side. Our companion, designer-turned-entrepreneur Robert Castañeda, is surprised that the beverage is no longer served in a pot. The waiter explains that his employer, TV host Willie Revillame, insists on serving it in a smaller size to make it more affordable.

“Willie is hands-on in everything,” says Castañeda.

WBR, the initials of Wilfredo Buendia Revillame, is engraved on the back-lit onyx wall of the WBR Wil Bar and Café. Revillame’s undertaking with chef Florabelle Co is at the prime spot in the atrium of the Wil Tower Mall, touted as Quezon City’s toniest address and new destination.

It will be launched Sept. 15.

At 4 p.m., Revillame arrives in his restaurant-bar from his show, “Wowowillie,” at TV5 Delta Studio. He is clad in his uniform polo shirt, cargo shorts and rubber thong sandals.

On some days, the polo is Ralph Lauren or Hugo Boss. For the interview, it’s Zara.

He jokes that his tsinelas are inexpensive, a brand called Armani. We still have to catch him in his Louis Vuitton slides.

He coaxes us to enjoy our merienda and offers us a fresh box of Patchi chocolates, from a fan from the US.

Upon seeing the photographer, Revillame orders the waiters to light the candles on the tables of his restaurant. After the snack, we ride up the scenic, steel-clad elevator to the executive office.

Revillame maintains that his mall is high-end, and he means it. He asks us to take a top shot of the atrium from the executive floor, which highlights Kenneth Cobonpue’s customized Will Chandelier. It resembles an upside-down tree with a hand-hammered steel frame and 1,000 cast acrylic butterflies wired with custom LED lighting.

“The atrium needed a lighting fixture. As most malls go, they are all usually statements of cold granite, steel and glass. I wanted to fuse technology and nature by using RGB LED lamps that change color at will,” explains Cobonpue.

“I have Yoda easy armchairs and dim-sum coffee tables designed by J. Anton Mendoza,” says Revillame.

The words WIRE International Holdings (another abbreviation of his name), Revillame’s holding company, are flashed in bold and classy letters. He explains that it’s the umbrella corporation of his businesses—Will Productions Inc.; Will Fly, a 30-seater Dornier aircraft; Will Events Place along Sgt. Esguerra Street; an upcoming hotel in Tagaytay; and Wil Tower Mall.

In all, he estimates to have a workforce of 300, including the people who take care of his yacht.

Tallest in QC

The Wil Tower Mall, a mixed-use development on Eugenio Lopez Jr. Drive, is a joint venture with former Sen. Manuel Villar’s property company, Vista Land.

“All this came from my show,” says Revillame, referring to his earnings in the halcyon days of “Wowowee” in ABS-CBN.

Designed by the international company RTKL Associates and locally built by Archaus, the mall and 42-story twin-tower condo, the tallest in Quezon City, will be completed next year.

The units range from a 25-sq m studio to a 65-sq m two-bedroom unit. The prices range from P3 million to P8 million. About 85 percent of the units in Tower One have been sold.

Revillame owns the entire fourth floor, 10 units on the 30th floor, three 700-sq m penthouses on the 40th, 41st and 42nd floors, and the helipad with viewing deck.

When Villar made a bid for the presidency in 2010, Revillame campaigned for him. “I did not ask for anything,” he says.

Wanting to put up a mall, he sought Villar’s expertise. The latter saw the opportunity to build a residential component to support the retail.

Architect Bryan Sy Tan, who did the mall’s common areas, exploited rich elements—a yellow- onyx back-lit reception table, granite flooring, travertine-clad columns, black galaxy granite accents, LED walls and intelligent lighting systems.

Revillame says the 14,000-sq m Wil Mall has 28 units of retail, mostly concept restaurants. The tenants are popular—Bench Fix Salon, Italianni’s, Fully Booked, Bench Body, Belo, Beyond the Box for Apple products, Crazy Garlic and Pho Hoa.

Draft, the English pub, will occupy a big space.

Revillame is waiting for his P2-million Walter Knoll CEO desk, conference table and executive chair, for the executive office designed by Joliza Tan. For now, he is making do with a Walter Knoll table used by Ewan McGregor in the Roman Polanski movie “Ghostwriter.”

Around the corner is a small chamber with a bed and floor-length mirrors.

Displayed prominently on his Italian wall system are silver-frame photographs showing Revillame with his former bosses, ABS-CBN Corp. president Rosario “Charo” Santos-Concio and chair Eugenio Lopez III, with TV5 chair  Manuel Pangilinan. There’s also a photograph of the contract signing between him and Villar.

The TV host then points to the covered Louis Vuitton boxes and trunks. When he spotted them in Singapore, they were not on display. Revillame pleaded with the store manager, who then made a call to the Paris office.

The trunks will be put on display at the mall opening.

They will share luxury space  with the Rolls Royce he has just bought, the first purchase in the Philippines when the store  opened here two months ago.

Instead of show biz or glossy magazines, books on Bencab, Cesar Legaspi and Fernando Zobel are laid on the table. On the walls are abstractions by Zobel, Joya, Lito Carating and Ang Kiukok.

The designer furniture from Furnitalia, Living Innovations and B&B Italia, the paintings by Filipino masters, and the luxury possessions were rewards for his efforts.

“Success comes from hard work, sincerity, professionalism and being God-fearing,” Revillame says.

Asked how much he invested in Wil Tower Mall, Revillame keeps mum and says he could be misconstrued as cocky. “What is important is that my life is simple but comfortable.”

Revillame admits he loves sports cars, but his collection, which includes a Ferrari and a Lamborghini, are just parked in his house.

“They’re my inspiration. When I see them, I could say I worked hard for them.”

Turning point

In previous interviews, Revillame has recalled his unstable childhood: “I was an illegitimate child.”

His late father was a 34-year-old engineer when he met his mother, a 15-year-old waitress.

He never felt maternal love, as he grew up in many households. He witnessed his mother fighting with her husband and having other relationships thereafter.

His father had four wives. Sometimes he would be sent to his father’s driver, a grandmother or an aunt.

He had his elementary education in Cabanatuan City, then at  Cecilio Apostol School in Caloocan.

His father sent him to Philippine Christian University High School and later to Centro Escolar University.

Revillame tried out pre-medicine school but shifted to music until he finally dropped out.

He dated actress Maricel Soriano’s sister, Vicky, and got her pregnant. Their daughter Meryll, 30, is now an actress.

He has three other children with different mothers: Louise Ann, Marimonte and his only son with ex-wife Liz Almoro, Juamee.

Instead of going back to school, Revillame learned to play the drums with Jun Regalado and Efren Vitan. He was rejected in band auditions for lack of skill.

To improve his skills, he would open the doors of Vitan’s studio and practice until his fingers were calloused.

“People think I’m mayabang. They don’t know what I went through. Matapang lang ako sa buhay,” he says.

He got his break when he became the first drummer for Gary Valenciano.

In 1982, he met Randy Santiago, who hired him for the Cicada band in a Singapore gig. Upon their return, Santiago tapped Revillame to be his comedy sidekick in the noontime show, “Lunch Date.”

He teamed up with Santiago and John Estrada in the noontime show “Magandang Tanghali Bayan (MTB).”  However, their raunchiness got them in trouble with the censors.

The trio was suspended thrice, and he was terminated twice.

One day, Concio asked him how he saw his future to be. Revillame said he wanted to do noontime shows.
In 2005, the launch of “Wowowee,” a noontime variety game show on ABS-CBN, became his turning point. The high ratings, the advertisements and Revillame’s endorsements enabled him to acquire properties, such as the one in front of ABS-CBN.

Rise and fall

Revillame has a metaphor for  his career path—like a thread passing through the fine eye of a needle. It was riddled with controversies known only too well now to the public—from the Ultra stampede during his show in 2006 where 74 people were killed and for which he and ABS-CBN top executives faced criminal charges, to his messy departure from ABS-CBN in 2010.

He soon joined TV5.

In 2010, his TV5 game show “Willing Willie” was suspended after advertisers withdrew from the program. Revillame was accused of humiliating and taking advantage of a 6-year-old boy, Janjan, who performed a lewd dance number. He was charged with violating the anti-child abuse law.

About talk that he mistreated his ex-wives, Revillame says, “Only God knows. I would not be successful if I were evil. I don’t think God would give me so many blessings if I did something bad to others.’

Asked how much he earns today, he jests that the Bureau of Internal Revenue could be snooping. Then he pulls out the Inquirer’s Entertainment section (April 20, 2013), which cited him as one of the top taxpaying celebrities. From 2009 to 2011, Revillame paid P89 million, placing him second to Kris Aquino.

Revillame reveals that the ratings of his show “Wowowillie” fell below expectation. He is up against “Showtime” and the 34-year-old “Eat Bulaga.” “No one can beat the rapport of Tito, Vic and Joey,” he says.

The TV host adds that the station’s broadcasting signal is vital to a program’s success. “No matter how good your show is, if the signal is not strong, people won’t watch you.”

As his contract with TV5 ends on October 15, he announced that his last show would be on Oct 12.

Revillame is looking forward to taking a long rest. He hopes to spend more time with his son, Juamee, whom he rarely sees. He will also focus on his new businesses.

“My life was about TV hosting and entertainment. When I talked to Sen. Villar, my perspective changed. You have to be stable,” he says.

“I thought of the future—not just for my family. I want to share my success with the less fortunate. All these,” he slaps the table, “will turn to dust. As long as I live, I want to do something that will make people happy. Life is about giving and forgiving. The world doesn’t have to see.”

He says that he has been sending Janjan to school. There are plans to do values-based projects with humanitarian Gina Lopez in remote provinces.

Revillame admits he has a soft spot for helping the needy. He looks up to the late Fernando Poe Jr. and Dolphy, who always extended their generosity.

Through life’s ups and downs, he cites that the only thing constant is his devotion to God.

Paris Hilton looks forward to revisiting Manila

LOS ANGELES – “I was so excited to go to the Philippines for the first time and see all my fans there,” Paris Hilton told us in a recent interview.

Lovely in a dress on this afternoon in West Hollywood, the hotel heiress who has four Paris Hilton boutiques in the Philippines, gushed about her first trip to Manila in 2011. “There were thousands of people waiting for me at the mall, at the store opening,” she recalled the first time. “It was so exciting. I was so proud and happy when I saw all my fans and they were carrying my handbag line, wearing my sunglasses or one of my products.”

“I love the Philippines,” Paris enthused. “People there are so sweet. I can’t wait to go back there.”

The 32-year-old multihyphenate is planning to return early next year for the opening of Azure Beach Club, which she designed for the Century Properties Group as part of a luxury resort in Parañaque.

Inspiration

We asked Paris about her sources of inspiration for the project. “I [envisioned it as] a place where people could go to really relax and enjoy themselves,” she answered. “I took my inspiration and designs from my travels around the world, including Maui, St. Tropez, Ibiza, Fiji and Bora Bora. I put all those together for the beach club [which will have] a man-made beach. It will be like being in paradise.”

Fittingly, Paris, who also discussed her fondness for friends, including boxing champ Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee, got to taste Pinoy food again during the interview. She enjoyed empanada and other delicacies prepared by Filipino-American chef and caterer Lem Balagot and his staff. “I love Filipino food,” Paris said.

“I feel so proud,” she said of what she has accomplished on her own—a recent opening in Bogota, Colombia, marked the 44th branch of her handbags and accessories chain. “I now have 44 stores around the world. We are opening more, like every single month or so.”

Stunning entrepreneur

The stunning entrepreneur declared, “I’m definitely following in my family’s footsteps by getting into real estate and the first properties in the Philippines. The next branches will be in India, the Middle East and China.”

But, she stressed, “I’m doing all of my own properties. This has nothing to do with my family. When I travel, it’s always for work. When I do these properties, it’s just me and my partners from around the world.”

She clarified, “There’s definitely a lot of misconceptions about me. Among the biggest ones is that, because I come from the Hilton family, everything was just handed to me, that I’ve never worked a day in my life, and that I’m spoiled. But really, it’s the total opposite. I’ve done all this on my own. I’ve worked very hard.”

Paris added, “People watched me in ‘The Simple Life’ (a TV series that ran from 2003 to 2007) and assumed that the character I played was really who I am. That’s another misconception.”

“I just grew up,” she said of her transformation from tabloid fodder to budding empire owner. “I’m focusing on my business, growing my brand and getting into the hotel business.”

About being seen less now in the tabloids, Paris explained, “I’m staying out of trouble and [avoiding] negative people. I don’t go out that much anymore, unless it’s for work. I’m happy to be a businesswoman.”

Volunteer work

Of her volunteer work, she said: “I support many charities. We have a charity in honor of my grandmother who passed away [after battling] breast cancer. I work with the Starlight Children’s Foundation. I donated part of the cancer wing at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. I volunteer at the Los Angeles Homeless Shelters in downtown LA.”

Paris, a practicing Catholic who has visited a children’s hospital in Colombia and an orphanage in India, continued: “I love working with children and animals. I do as much as I can to give back because that’s important. It’s something that’s been instilled in me since I was a little girl.”

So many things on her plate! How does she do them all?

“I’m a workaholic,” she explained. “I love being creative and working, so I divide my day into doing all my different projects, whether at a photo shoot, recording studio, design meetings or meeting with my different licensee partners. So every single day, even on weekends, I’m working or traveling for work. I have this drive in me that I need to always be doing something.”

Paris credits her family for inspiring her. “My parents (Richard and Kathy Hilton)—definitely my family [inspires me]. I’m a daddy’s girl so I listen to my dad, but also to my mom and grandfather. I have a really amazing family. We’re very close. I admire and respect them very much. This is who I am today because growing up in such an entrepreneurial family, I learned so much. I do all of this to make them proud.”

About Sofia

As we wrote in an earlier column about the film “The Bling Ring,” director Sofia Coppola brought to the screen the true story of a band of teenagers who robbed the homes of celebs, including Paris. Asked how Sofia managed to shoot the robbery scenes in her home, Paris replied, “During my birthday party last year, Sofia came up to me and told me she was doing the movie. She said, ‘This house is going to be impossible to recreate. It would be amazing if we could shoot here.’ I thought about it and said yes because I respect Sofia very much. She’s an incredible director. She’s very talented. I’ve always loved her films. If anyone else approached me, I would have said no because I’ve been robbed so many times, that I don’t want another bunch of strangers coming into my house.”

The big hit

As to how the band of celeb-obsessed teens broke into her house several times without her  noticing that something was amiss until the sixth incident, Paris said, “I travel so much that I’m not there often. When I get home, my staff has the house looking perfect. I didn’t notice until the last time; that’s when they did the big hit and took millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry. Before that, they were taking little things from everywhere.”

About the huge amount of fashion accessories in Paris’ closet, as seen in the film (Emma Watson told us that her jaw “just dropped” at the sight of shoes, clothes and more), the entrepreneur explained, “I’m a designer and I have 17 product lines so a lot of the things in my house are my products—my handbag line, sunglasses, shoes…”

She stressed that her home security system has been beefed up since the robberies and two other incidents. “One stalker came with two giant knives. He found my address on a star map and walked all the way from Hollywood Boulevard to my house… Then I had another stalker who busted through the gate on a bike and came to my door.”

An anchor for Paris these days is her boyfriend. “I’ve been with my boyfriend, River Viiperi, for a year now,” she said. “He’s amazing. He’s so sweet, down-to-earth, loyal, kind and has such a big heart. So yeah, I’m really happy. He’s a model. He’s Finnish and Spanish, the most beautiful man in the world. He’s so hot. We celebrated our first anniversary during the Cannes Film Festival. We’ve been together for 14 months now.”

Paris admitted that she was learning to trust again, after her sex-tape scandal in 2004. An ex-boyfriend, Rick Salomon, released the explicit video showing him and Paris. “It was the most painful thing I ever went through in my life,” she said. “When you’re with somebody and you love and trust him, and this was not just some random person… this was my boyfriend who I was with for a few years, who I really loved and trusted. It was such a violation of everything. I was so hurt and in shock.”

Paris’ heart goes out for her namesake, Paris Jackson, the late Michael Jackson’s daughter who reportedly attempted suicide last June 5. “I knew her father because he and my mom were friends since they were 13,” she said. “I’ve known Paris since she was a little girl. I have so much love for her. I’m wishing her the best. It’s very hard when you’re growing up in Hollywood, especially if you’re a young girl and you have mean people on the Internet saying things that are not true—so many haters. I would tell her not to pay attention to any of that. She’s a special, beautiful girl.”

Gay marriage

A bright note was that, on the day of our interview, the US Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act, paving the way for all states with gay marriage laws to have those marriages federally recognized, with due benefits. “It’s so amazing,” Paris commented, smiling. “I’ve been talking to my friends all day about it. They’re all so happy. Everyone’s planning weddings in Vegas, Ibiza and all these places this summer and Christmastime. So I have a lot more weddings to go to, which I’m excited about because I love going to weddings. It’s how it should be. Love is love. It doesn’t matter if you’re two men, two women, whatever. No law should prevent that.”

Amanda Bynes Reportedly Involved in Another Hit and Run

It's one car mishap after another for Amanda Bynes. Someone reported the actress as the culprit in the accident occurring on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley on April 10. The victim said Bynes slammed into a car and fled the scene.

If this were true, then it happened four days after Bynes hit a police car in West Hollywood and got arrested for DUI afterwards. The victim of her May 10 incident identified the woman driving the 5 series BMW through her mugshot.

The victim claimed the culprit drove through a red light when the victim tried to chase her. The victim was able to write down the license plate and got a profile view of the BMW driver. When CHP showed up, they ran the plate and found out it was a rented car. They contacted Enterprise rental car which then said that the person who rented the car was Bynes.

According to TMZ's source, the case was rejected by the L.A. City Attorney's Office because there was no independent witness stating that Bynes was the other driver.

Alanis Morissette: I Will Breastfeed Until My Son Weans

Amidst all the breastfeeding controversy, Alanis Morissette has added her voice to the conversation as a pro attachment parent.

In a new interview, the singer reveals she is still nursing 16-month-old Ever Imre — and, as of yet, has no plans to stop.

“I breastfeed and I’ll be breastfeeding until my son is finished and he weans,” Morissette, 37, tells Access Hollywood.

Her decision, she adds, will provide her son with the stability he needs in his future. “I think it affords the child, when he grows up, to have a lot less therapy to go to,” the first-time mom explains.

“For me, I protect his safety and his well-being and his attachment. That stage of development is a very important stage.”

The family of three — which includes husband Mario “Souleye” Treadway — stays “skin-on-skin connected” as much as possible and is practicing co-sleeping. However, despite sharing their bed with a toddler, Morissette reveals it doesn’t put a damper on the couple’s relationship.

“He’s a very robust, virile man,” she says with a laugh. “You gotta take care of your husband.”

Q&A: Alanis Morissette on Her New LP, 'Kinship' With Leonardo DiCaprio

Alanis Morissette announced today that she'll release her seventh album, Havoc And Bright Lights, on August 28th. The record is Morissette's first in four years and the first since she gave birth to her son, Ever Imre, in late 2010. While motherhood is definitely a theme on the new album, Havoc also tackles many of the topics that Morissette's fans have come to expect, from social issues to spirituality.

"What I love the most now in listening back is that it covers the gamut of everything I care about," Morissette told Rolling Stone when we recently visited her in the studio in Los Angeles. While the LP's subject matter often gets intimate, the six songs that Morissette previewed in the studio are big and rocking. "Kind of epic, hair blowing in the wind," said Morisette, when asked how she plans to play the new tunes in concert.

Many of the new songs have big choruses. Did you let loose a bit more than usual with this record?
To be honest I wrote it post-partum the whole few months after my son was born, so I barely remember the process [laughs]. It was in our home, and we built a makeshift studio in what is now the playroom because I'm an attachment parent, so I wanted to be able to breastfeed. So it was literally in and out of this room, writing with Guy Sigsworth, recording, being a mom, back and forth in my house. I barely remember it and I wouldn't say I was letting loose, but I was having fun.

In "Celebrity," you call out people for their obsession with fame. It seems very much based on real people.
Yes. It was inspired by specific people that I'll never talk about, 'cause it's just rude. Do I appreciate the idea of jealousy, revenge and all these so-called dark qualities? Yes. Do I write these songs in order to engage in some public war with someone? No. And also, as with any song I've ever written, I'm also busting my own chops. This isn't just finger pointing at one human being – it could well be a composite, and the composite includes me.

Did any particular songs emerge that surprised you?
I think some of the loftier ones, like "Edge of Evolution." There are a couple of super lofty ones, and there was the option of not having those songs on the record, but I thought, "Who cares?" If you want to be entertained and you don't want to focus on the lyrics, you have that option. But if you want to be challenged and engage in the conversation that I happen to be in once in a while, this is my record.

When I first heard "Lens" it seemed like a relationship song, but there's a much bigger picture to it.
It's micro and macro, and I like that about a lot of the songs I write. It is about the one-on-one because that's most micro, close to my heart, tangible. But then it can be extrapolated to speak to the larger relationship – relationship with self, with someone's version of spirit, with each other.

The song can be read as a comment on political discourse and religious discourse.
I don't separate church and state, so rather than necessarily addressing a political conversation, I'll address the spiritual underpinnings of it – because I do believe they're bedfellows. Your political views really denote your spiritual views. And America, I think, is largely devoid of a prioritized spiritual [view], whether it's practice or a belief that is based on love and based on kindness, as the Dalai Lama talks about. It's almost like religion is co-opted by the political, ego, fear-fueled machine in our own selves or political structure, so it becomes a tool for the political campaign that's winning as opposed to, "How does it personally show up in one's life? How does it show up in your living room at 7 a.m. when no one's around?" I'd rather talk to people about their personal spiritual practices or what they believe love is. I'm born to do that. Could I enter into the political realm and dive into that? Sure, but I don't think I would want to do that.

"Woman Down" is another one that has massive spiritual and religious implications, but it's also topical. When Rush Limbaugh called Sarah Fluke a slut, were you tempted to throw it up online?
It does speak to what's going on and then it also speaks to what was going on and where we're going, some of which I know about topically and some I don't. So there's some naivety here and there, and then there's the part of me that knows exactly what's going on. As I enter more into the promotional part of this whole journey I'll be more aware of what's going on, 'cause I've been under a rock for a while. For me to comment on pop culture or politics I have to be somewhat informed, but not so much informed to the point I'm beleaguered by it all. I do believe that artists are social commentators to some degree – we have that opportunity.

They're also forced into it sometimes.
You're the screen upon which people project their vehement opinions or even light ones, and I think that's great because people define themselves in accordance to celebrities all the time. And so you're an unwitting activist. To the degree that you want to be an activist, it will either drag you through kicking and screaming or you can just consciously become one – and still be kicking and screaming [laughs].

It has to be scary at times, though.
It's scary, it's exhausting, it's daunting, it's beautiful. Some small percent is quite beautiful. It also requires the celebrities to be quite steely unless they want to get tossed about. And we see that all the time, too. I've seen it in myself and I've seen it in other celebrities. It's exhausting and we need protection.

Your Jagged Little Pill album sold millions upon millions of copies. Even with Adele, it's not likely that anyone will hit those kinds of numbers again.
I have a unique perspective that perhaps people like Eminem and Leonardo DiCaprio share. There are certain people who are in my generation who were in the hot kitchen the same time as me, and whether I know them or not is incidental. I just feel we have this wink with each other. There's a kinship because we were in a similar era in the hot kitchen.

How many of them have you met?
I've met a handful of them, and a handful of them I've never met and I almost don't need to, because we're in this club whether we show up for the club events or not [laughs]. So I'm heartened by knowing that they exist and they're still here, because for me, I had a pretty large amount of PTSD after that chapter that I'm still twitching from.

Are you also heartened by the way other people have handled that success?
Do I look at Leonardo DiCaprio post-Titanic and want to give him a medal for still being here? Yes.

Can any musician today build the kind of fanbase that you and Eminem did?
The thing you can't underestimate is the true fan's intimacy. So Lady Gaga or anybody's true fan, I don't think they're going anywhere. There are people who are into commitment. If they're connecting with an artist, I think they'll be there over the long course.

What do you take from this record when you hear it?
There is a lack of apology for the kind of person I am. I used to have some shame around my Ph.D, psychological part and shame about being spiritual, or shame about being emotional or sensitive. And what I know now, or what I feel now, is that I don't have shame for those parts. It might piss people off or rub them the wrong way or have them roll their eyes. I don't care.

Actor Ryan O'Neal diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, report says

"Love Story" star Ryan O’Neal has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, the actor told People magazine.

O’Neal, 70, who has successfully overcome leukemia in the late 1990s, released a statement through his rep last Friday, explaining that the cancer is currently in stage 4.

“Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery,” the statement said.

The diagnosis comes about three years after O’Neal lost his longtime love Farrah Fawcett, who died of cancer at age 62, People reported. He penned a memoir about his life with Fawcett slated to be released on May 1.

“I am deeply grateful for the support of my friends and family during this time, and I urge everyone to get regular check-ups, as early detection is the best defense against this horrible disease that has afflicted so many,” O’Neal said.

Drew Arellano to join marathon in Paris

TV host Drew Arellano is vocal about his steady relationship with celebrity girlfriend Iya Villania yet he dodges rumors that he will ask for her hand in marriage when he goes for a marathon challenge in Paris set on April 15.

"It's too cliche to do it in Paris. I'll propose when she least expects it," he said with a smile, proudly saying that his eight-year affair with the MYX VJ can only be described as "getting better every year."

The travel host of GMA-7's "Unang Hirit" expressed delight that his workout-buff partner is tagging along as he competes for the 42-km challenge. The fact that he is setting foot in Paris for the first time should make the trip extra special.

"Siya yung magiging yaya ko," Drew added with a laugh, then admitted he really wants to go on vacation with Iya. "It's a bonus that there's a race."

Drew has been joining running competitions for the past five years. He regularly wakes up at 3 a.m. to run within Barangay San Antonio in Ortigas. He averages participating in 20 triathlon races in a year including Ironman and Death March. Drew is even part of a celebrity running group that gathers twice a week.

He pointed out, "I enjoy running. It's self reflection and you just need rubber shoes. I'm not a fan of treadmill kasi iba pa rin yung totoong takbo."

Apart from his daily exposure on "Unang Hirit," Drew hosts the travelogue "Weekend Getaway" which airs via GMA News TV every Friday at 10:15 pm; then there's the trivia show "AHA" which he hosts every Sunday that airs Sunday after "Slamdunk."

Dingdong shrugs off criticism over latest acting nomination

MANILA, Philippines – Dingdong Dantes is not perturbed by alleged grumbling of some people over his recent nomination as Best Actor in the upcoming Golden Screen Awards.

According to Dantes, he is not one to lose sleep over somebody’s poor estimation of his abilities as actor. He adds that as much as he respects his critics’ opinion, he’d rather that he remain focused on trying to better his craft.

He thanked the Entertainment Press Society, Inc. for the recommendation, admitting that he was very flattered with their vote of confidence.

This isn’t the first time that Dantes’ nomination for an acting award has been questioned by detractors. His inclusion in the Best Actor category of the 2011 Metro Manila Festival was also questioned by some, this, even after he eventually won it.

Still, Dantes shrugs it all off saying that he is sensible enough to realize that he can’t please everybody. What matters most, he says, is that, at the end of the day, his fans are actually happy with his performance.

Meanwhile, Dantes is busying himself with philanthropic work, donating a house Mar. 8 for Gawad Kalinga at Banyuhay Village, Barangay Silangan, San Mateo, Rizal.

Dantes said that he was just fulfilling a promise he made to its recipients, the Gonzaga family, whose plight he was made aware of after he met them for a special documentary he made for GMA’s “Report Card.”

Nonetheless, he insists that his charitable projects shouldn’t be construed as a sign of sorts that he is jumping into politics anytime soon.

Gwen Zamora goes international

MANILA, Philippines – Gwen Zamora is keeping her fingers crossed that Pinoys would be proud of her stint in the international movie, “The Witness.”

Weeks prior to the release of the GMA Films and Skylar Films co-produced Indonesian flick, Zamora shared how thrilled she was to be part of a production as big as this one.

“I hope I made the Philippines proud kasi I’m the only Filipina representing the Philippines in [that] Indonesian film,” enthused the part French, Italian, Vietnamese and Filipino actress in a taped interview with “Unang Hirit [UH]” aired March 6.

Filming experience

In the film, Zamora plays half-Filipina, half-American expatriate, Angel; a hotel employee who, according to a previous Bulletin Entertainment report, witnesses the grotesque killing of her father by an armed syndicate.

Being sole eyewitness to the crime, Angel was forced to flee and hide from the syndicate who wants to get rid of her as well. With the goal to avenge her father’s death, Angel eventually meets his leading man played by Indonesian actor, Tyo Pakusa Dewol.

Since fractions of the film were shot in Indonesia, which is known as a strict Muslim country, Zamora reiterated that the entire production team had to be extremely cautious in capturing certain sequences.

“They were very meticulous about ‘yung pagtakbo ko. Hindi pwedeng umaalog ‘yung dibdib gano’n,” shared the actress in the “UH” report.

Although, she deems the film to be “very conservative” she pointed out that they were able to successfully go around the “sensitive scenes” making the flick “very twisted” at the same time.

Of all the things that she's done in the film, Zamora singled out that what frayed her nerves the most was “’yung shooting everyday tapos iyakan everyday."

Recall that in a past report, Zamora described the film as the “most intense” she’s done to date, in her relatively new acting career.

“There's a lot of action, a lot of shooting, a lot of blood. Madugo talaga ‘yung Gwen Zamora na makikita ninyo dito,” she said.

She even boasted that she did all the stunts in the film without a double which is why “half of my shooting days, I had bruises everywhere. My kneecap was sort of out for a while, so I was [in and out] of the hospital and I was always on painkillers so it was really intense talaga.”

But, despite the physical challenges posed by her role, Zamora said "It was really worth it!"

The young actress bagged the titular role in the suspense-thriller flick when the Indonesian film outfit was scouting for talent from the GMA Artist Center (GMAAC).

"Actually they went around the Philippines kasi gusto daw nila ng Philippine actress in their movie and GMA presented their various actresses tapos ‘yon,” shared Zamora in the “UH” episode.

According to her, the film would premiere in local theaters on March 21. It will also be screened in other Asian countries namely Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand; and in Dubai.
