3 Ways to Make a Difference for Mesothelioma Victims

Make a Difference Day is approaching! October 26 is the day to make a difference; are you wondering how to do so?

So many individuals in the United States are affected by mesothelioma, a rare, painful, and incurable form of cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Making a difference in their lives for just one day might be the perfect answer. Here are a few ways you can reach out to those affected by mesothelioma:

Spend some time with those affected by mesothelioma. Every year, around 3,000 new mesothelioma patients are diagnosed1. It could be your mother or father, or a close friend who has been affected by the disease, or someone you do not know at all. No matter who it is, volunteering your time to comfort, converse, and live with a mesothelioma patient will surely make a difference.

Spread awareness of the disease. If you can't find the time to spend with a mesothelioma patient in person, spreading awareness of the disease is just as great of an effort. We have more than a few inspirational images and infographics that you are free to share across your social networks, as well as information on our website. There are people fighting all over the country for mesothelioma victims' rights, so it should not be hard to find news to spread.

Support the cause. Funding for mesothelioma research receives is far less than other cancers2, so any support is welcome by research centers and mesothelioma patients alike. Without proper funding, this disease remains one step further from a cure. The Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance has provided a list of charities you can donate to on their website.
