You can ‘Send Yourself Home’ via WesternUnion.com

NEW YORK—Cutting edge 3D printing, 360° photography and a unique Facebook photo app helped online remittance giant WesternUnion.com to create new and engaging ways for customers to send more than money home.

WesternUnion.com wanted to demonstrate how digital technology has transformed staying in touch with loved ones across borders by using new technologies and social media to give its Filipino customers a stimulating experience.

The initial stage of the campaign was launched in September at the Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture in Los Angeles, where visitors to the Western Union stand could get an interactive 360 degree photograph of themselves to share with friends and family. It even managed to capture a marriage proposal (https://www.facebook.com/WesternUnion/app_1400702113485294)! The next event that is aimed for Filipinos will be in Melbourne, Australia, at the Philippine Fiesta on Nov. 23-24, 2013.

Visitors to www.westernunion.com/sendyourselfhome can also enter the prize draw to win a 3D printed, one-of-a-kind likeness of themselves to be shipped “home” to loved ones (view promo video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yrc1TQmUlTs). The prize draw closes on Nov. 1, 2013.

Another innovation, “You! Magazine” app, allows visitors to create a personalized magazine cover and share personal news in a novel way. Both the You! Magazine element of the campaign and the opportunity to enter the prize draw are available to all at www.westernunion.com/sendyourselfhome.
