Aerosmith Push Album Release Back to November

Aerosmith have moved the release date for Music From Another Dimension, their first album in 11 years, back from August 28th to November 6th, frontman Steven Tyler revealed during a call to Cleveland radio station 100.7 WMMS.

"It's pushed back because too many people are releasing those weeks, and we don't want to step on their release dates," said Tyler. "So we said, 'You know what, we got the goods, ain't no doubt about [it], we'll wait a couple months.'"

Music From Another Dimension will be the band's first LP since 2001's Just Push Play. The group debuted the record's first single, "Legendary Child," during the season finale of American Idol last month, but the song has failed to gain traction on both the Billboard and iTunes charts.

Tyler also mentioned on-air that Sony will release two more singles before the album drops in November. One of those tracks could be the blues-tinged rocker "Oh Yeah," which the band debuted last week at the Minneapolis kick-off of their Global Warming tour, which finds them rekking across North America alongside Cheap Trick throughout the summer.

"We accomplished what we set out to do, which was write some stuff so we could represent who we were in the old days," Tyler told WMMS. "After all these years, you can become something other than you started out to be – and I'm not saying that's a bad thing – but we kinda love our rock and I love the diversity of this band ... I thought that was one of the secrets that Aerosmith had that other bands didn't – a little bit of this, a little bit of that."

Steven Tyler Talks Up New Aerosmith Album at 'Idol' Finale

Steven Tyler spoke about the new Aerosmith record, Music from Another Dimension, during a press conference at last night's American Idol finale.

"It's the kind of thing where it represents who you are," the frontman and Idol judge said. "Who are you? We don't know. Sometimes our music speaks for us so this album – as Joe Perry said on one of his solo records – 'Let the music do the talking,' and this one does."

The album is slated to drop August 28th, and Aerosmith premiered the album's first single, "Legendary Child," in a performance during last night's show.

Tyler added, "Your album is like a wave, and you ride that album all the way and see what you got. Hopefully we have three or four deep, which means radio play ... Jack Douglass and I and Joe ... we worked this thing for the last year, and we're so happy about it."

Their performance also marks the first time Aerosmith has performed on Idol since Tyler joined the show in 2010, a decision that caused some turmoil within the group, making the chances for an Idol performance seem slim at the time.

"Well, we're doing an album," said Tyler last night about the group making their Idol debut. "It was the right time. This the first time we've ever had a chance to play live, the first song. The song off the album that we did depicts who we are."

During the press conference, Tyler was also asked whether he'd be upset if fellow judge Jennifer Lopez didn't return next year, as rumors have suggested.

"Probably. Everything evolves, though," he said. "Who you're gonna sit next to makes it really worthwhile. Don't take that out of context!"

Tyler also heaped some praise on fellow frontman Mick Jagger for his recent dual hosting/musical guest gig on Saturday Night Live's season finale, which had the Stones frontman impersonating Tyler.

"He could have done, 'Yakakakaow!'” said Tyler, suggesting his signature scream. "He could have done the bastard son of Mick Jagger. There could have been so many skits. I thought he looked good in his long hair. I've always wanted him to grow it back. He looked good. It was fun."

New Aerosmith Album Due in Three Months, Band Confirms

At a press conference at the Grove mall in Los Angeles, just around the corner from the American Idol studio, the members of Aerosmith (minus guitarist Brad Whitford) bravely stepped into the sunshine and proved that they don't melt in daylight. After being introduced by Jimmy Kimmel – "Aerosmith are literally walking this way" – the band confirmed that their Global Warming tour will kick off on June 16th in Minneapolis; it's currently scheduled through August 8th, with Cheap Trick rocking the opening slot.

But the big news was that the band's 15th studio album, their first in eight years, is almost done and should be released in roughly three months. "We've been underground for four months, doing what we do best," said Steven Tyler, who was wearing a half-buttoned shimmery red polka dot shirt. "We got two more songs to finish" before mixing, he added. Among the song titles on the album are "Legendary Child," "Beautiful" and "Out Go the Lights."

Tyler and his bandmate Joe Perry seemed comfortable with one another. Tyler mentioned how happy he was that the guitarist performed "Happy Birthday" to mark his 64th on Idol, and when Perry was asked about the perks of having a TV star in the band, he said drily, "He gives us free sunglasses."

As the band left the stage, Tyler issued a promise to Aerosmith fans: "We will not let you down."
