Ariana Grande marries real estate agent boyfriend

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop star Ariana Grande married her real estate agent boyfriend in California over the weekend, some five months after the couple got engaged, the singer’s representatives and TMZ.com said on Monday.

Grande, 27, tied the knot with Dalton Gomez, 25, whom she started dating in January 2020.

“They got married,” Grande’s representative told People magazine. “It was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”

Grande’s representative confirmed the marriage.

Celebrity website TMZ said the wedding took place at Grande’s home in Montecito, Southern California.

The “thank u, next” singer announced her engagement to Gomez in December 2020, having started dating about a year before.

Grande was previously engaged briefly to “Saturday Night Live” comedian Pete Davidson in 2018 but they split about five months later. Grande was also in a long relationship with rapper Mac Miller, who died of an accidental drug overdose about four months after their relationship ended in 2018.

Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra celebrate wedding in US at Jonas family restaurant

After a Hindu ceremony and Christian nuptials held in India last December, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra took the wedding party to the United States.

The couple had a reception last Sunday, Jan. 27, in North Carolina, which was relatively more relaxed than their initial ceremonies.

Nick’s parents, Jonas Sr. and Denise Miller-Jonas, hosted the celebration in their family restaurant, Nellie’s Southern Kitchen. It has a menu based on food recipes by the singer’s late great grandmother.

Chopra marked the event with a picture of her, Nick and family members on both sides, which she shared on Instagram yesterday, Jan. 28.

“Thank you @nelliessouthernkitchen @mamadjonas@papakjonas for a wonderful reception! We love you! This was amazing,” she said.

For the occasion, she wore a strapless white dress with silver detail while her husband donned an olive green button-down shirt.

Jonas Sr. personally welcomed the couple as they made their entrance into the venue, as seen in social media posts collated by Instagram fan account @np_globaldomination.

Papa Jonas was among the performers at the party, which also included Joe Jonas and his pop band DNCE.

Among the food offered were a dessert bar and a white three-tiered cake, which the couple sliced.

In attendance were Kevin Jonas, his wife Danielle, and Joe’s fiancee, actress Sophie Turner.

After their weddings in India, the newlyweds went on a ski trip with Joe and Sophie in Switzerland. This January, they honeymooned in the Caribbean, and according to E! News, the entire trip was a surprise planned by Nick.  /ra

Clooney, fiancee arrive in Venice for wedding

VENICE, Italy—George Clooney vowed he would never marry again, giving hope to millions of women that they one day might get their chance at romance with Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor.

And for more than two decades, Clooney’s love life has been tabloid fodder as he carried on romances with a series of models and actresses, a cocktail waitress, an Italian starlet and a former professional wrestler — before meeting his match in human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin.

Less than five months after their engagement was announced, the couple is marrying this weekend in a celebrity-studded wedding extravaganza in Venice, one of the world’s most romantic settings.

Sworn bachelorhood

It has not been reported if Michelle Pfeiffer has called him on his $100,000 bet that he would, indeed, never marry again following his four-year marriage to Talia Balsam, which ended in 1993. And it is unknown how many hearts have been broken by Clooney’s renunciation of his sworn bachelorhood, but there are plenty.

“I am going to tell all the women who are sad because George is getting married: Yah, you lost this one because he is an honorable, sensitive, intelligent, sweet guy,” said Howard Bragman, vice chairman of reputation.com and a long-time Hollywood publicist who has observed Clooney in action on sets and at events.

Bragman said Clooney “holds a very unique place in Hollywood.”

“George is a contemporary throwback star,” he said. “He is contemporary in his thinking. He has taken stands on politics, in presidential elections, on Darfur and other causes. But in terms of his respect and his place in the Hollywood system, he is very traditional. He is a throwback to at timeless movie star, almost Cary Grant.”

Natural setting

Venice is perhaps a natural setting for Clooney’s wedding. The star owns a villa on Lake Como north of Milan, feels at home in Italy and is a frequent visitor to Venice, often to promote his films at the Venice Film Festival.

While the Venetian waterways offer stunning views of the city’s Byzantine and Renaissance architecture, where East truly meets West, its system of islands also permits privacy and easily restricted access.

Clooney and Alamuddin arrived in Venice by bus on Friday accompanied by a small group of guests who included the groom’s parents, as well as Cindy Crawford and her husband. A clutch of photographers greeted them, and the couple obliged with smiles and poses.

They were met by Clooney’s regular water-taxi driver, who piloted the group down the scenic route along the picturesque Grand Canal lined by stunning palazzi, including the one where the couple is to be married in a civil ceremony on Monday.

‘Amore’

Clooney and his bride stood outside during the water-taxi ride, his arm comfortably around her as they were conveyed along the most famous of Venice’s canals on a boat fittingly named “Amore.” He waved to well-wishers as they passed under the famed Rialto Bridge.

The water journey ended at the luxury Cipriani Hotel, Clooney’s usual residence when in Venice, on an island opposite St. Mark’s Square.

Clooney, 53, and Alamuddin, 36, have not publicly divulged details of the celebrations — leaving plenty open to speculation.

A reporter saw a distinct hexagonal box that Alamuddin was photographed carrying through a Milan airport on Thursday arrive by water taxi at the Aman Hotel overlooking the Grand Canal, rumored to be the venue of one of the weekend festivities. The wedding veil, perhaps? And the million dollar question: Who designed the dress she will wear?

Giorgio Armani said during Milan Fashion Week that the groom would be wearing Armani. Clooney is a long-time friend of the designer and has in the past been a front-row guest at his menswear shows. And an Armani suit bag arrived with Clooney, among two vans of luggage, in Venice.

Venice city officials have announced the closure of a 50-meter (yard) length of pedestrian way along the Grand Canal where the 16th-century Cavalli Palace is located for two hours on Monday for the Clooney nuptials. Media have speculated that the couple will have two ceremonies — one on Saturday followed by a civil ceremony Monday.

Star-studded

The arrival of other celebrities in Venice on Friday indicated star-studded festivities were in the making. Those spotted included Clooney’s cousin Miguel Ferrer, Matt Damon, Ellen Barkin, Anna Wintour and Richard Kind.

Clooney has expressed bemusement at the level of interest in his love life over the years. And it’s unlikely to stop with marriage.

“I think it is going to help his image,” Bragman said. “He married someone who is super intelligent, super beautiful and super comfortable in her own skin. And I think that shows that here is a guy who has enough security in his own skin to marry someone who is truly his equal.”

Not your usual bridal fair

A wedding here in the Philippines is a full-blown production—hence the growing number of bridal fairs, those one-stop shopping events for everything couples will need on their Big Day.

It’s an exciting pre-wedding activity, but it’s also an entire day of threading your way through rows and rows of booths, and stressing over which suppliers can cater to your wants and needs.

The Peninsula Manila, which is holding its fourth “Weddings at The Peninsula” bridal fair on Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., offers a more intimate and personalized affair for soon-to-wed couples.

Start at the Rigodon Ballroom, where guests can taste food and dessert options prepared by The Peninsula executive chef Patrick Boucher, and choose from the different floral creations of creative director Anna Faye Rosal.

Bulgari, one of The Peninsula’s partners this year, will also be showcasing its Bridal Jewelry collection.

In The Conservatory and Upper Lobby, “wedding specialists” will be waiting to answer any queries and take guests around to meet suppliers of cakes, formal wear, jewelry and registries, such as Rustan’s Weddings and Beyond.

Dream dress

Ladies will enjoy picking out their dream dress at the 6 p.m. fashion show, and meeting the featured designers: Francis Libiran, Rhett Eala, James Reyes, Jun Escario, JC Buendia, Candy Dizon, Cary Santiago, Joey Samson, Jojie Lloren, Randy Ortiz, Dennis Lustico, Puey Quiñones, Ivar Aseron. Rosa Clara gowns will also be on display.

The men, on the other hand, can look forward to the cocktail tasting, sponsored by champagne house Moët & Chandon. Wedding menswear will also be featured in the fashion show.

“Peninsula bride” Rissa Mananquil-Trillo, who was wed in The Conservatory in 2011, says one of the biggest things that helped her and husband Paolo in preparing for their wedding was attending Weddings at The Peninsula.

“It was the only bridal fair we attended. We all found our dream suppliers here,” said Trillo. “I decided to go to just this one bridal fair because I knew that the suppliers were already pre-selected. I trusted that they chose the best of the best.”

Luxe packages

This year, The Peninsula is also launching its Luxe Wedding Package. It includes a five-course sit-down gourmet dinner for 100 guests, a glass of Dom Perignon for each guest, Rolls-Royce limousine, two-night stay at The Peninsula Suite, cake by Penk Ching, a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes for the bride, and La Mer bridal spa party for 10.

Full details on the package will be revealed on April 13.

Special prizes will also be raffled off at the fair: dinner buffets at Escolta for two; afternoon tea for four; three-hour prenuptial shoots in Salon de Ning; overnight stay in a deluxe room with buffet breakfast for two; Sexy Solutions treatments; round-trip tickets for two to Tokyo via Cathay Pacific and Dragonair; and a chance to win a honeymoon at The Peninsula Hotels in Shanghai, Bangkok or Tokyo.

“There is so much more that goes on when it comes to weddings here in the Philippines,” said Sonja Vodusek, The Peninsula Manila general manager. “We do take it as a big deal here, and we put a lot of effort into this event.”

Jared Followill of Kings of Leon Is Married

The last King is taken!

Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill, 25, wed girlfriend Martha Patterson, 21, on Saturday, a rep for the band confirms to PEOPLE.

The couple, who got engaged in April, tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony in Charlotte, Tenn. They then celebrated with friends and family in a rustic house on the grounds.

Followill, who looked country-cool wearing Lucchese boots, and his bride worked with celebrity event planner Sharon Sacks to create a bash that matches their casual vibe.

A guest tells PEOPLE, "They had a great farm-to-table cuisine with all of their favorite things. It was down home and very real. It was very much true to their style."

Before the ceremony Followill sent a lighthearted Tweet: "Today, I get married. It's the biggest step I've ever taken. I've dreamed about this day since I was a little girl."

Patterson added on Twitter: "Marrying my best friend today. I'm the luckiest girl in the world. :)"

Jared is the last of the Kings of Leon clan to settle down.

Nathan wed singer-songwriter Jessie Baylin, 28, in 2009 and the couple will welcome their first child in December.. Caleb, 30, married Lily Aldridge, 26, in 2011 and welcomed their first child, daughter Dixie Pearl, in June.

Cousin Matthew, 28, who is married to Johanna Bennett, 27,had their first child, son Knox Cameron Patrick, in April 2011.

The bassist appears to have found his perfect mate in Patterson. Last year, Jared spoke to PEOPLE about the pressure he feels from his brothers to find the perfect girl to marry.

"I know it's stupid," he said, "but you feel pressure in the sense that people are judging you. It goes into your decision-making, like, 'What are my brothers going to think?' I'm not talking about looks obviously, even status, you just have to find somebody that people like because everyone has settled down."

Followill is getting back to work quickly. He'll release his debut EP with his new side-project Smoke & Jackal on Oct. 16.

Precious Lara marries Marco Sunday

Former Miss International Precious Lara Quigaman ties the knot with model-actor Marco Alcaraz today at the Hacienda Isabella in Indang, Cavite.

Most of the wedding entourage are family and friends of the couple. Among the principal sponsors, the only show biz insiders are manager Noel Ferrer and TV execs Cory Vidanes and Lilybeth Rasonable.

Camarines Sur Governor Luis Villafuerte Jr. and former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri are also among the principal sponsors.

Among the bridesmaids are actresses Valerie Concepcion, who introduced Precious and Marco three years ago, and Maja Salvador. Actors Luis Alandy, Gerald Anderson, Jason Abalos, Alfred Vargas and TV director Dominic Zapata are part of the entourage, too.

Surely, Lara, who set up an events-party planning company with friends, has pulled out all the stops to make her own wedding day truly memorable.

1st same-sex couples wed at Empire State Building

NEW YORK (AP) — Two women who met as college students and two men who met at a nightclub 18 years ago became the first same-sex couples Tuesday to be married at the Empire State Building after winning a contest for Valentine's Day weddings at the New York City landmark.

"I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you," Stephanie Figarelle told Lela McArthur as they exchanged rings in a ceremony at the iconic skyscraper.

"I will always love you forever, with every beat of my heart," said McArthur, who is taking her partner's name.

Figarelle and McArthur, of Alaska, were among four couples who won an online contest for a Valentine's Day wedding at the Empire State Building designed by event planner Colin Cowie.

After the ceremonies in a 61st-floor area that is rented out for parties, the couples posed for photos on the 86th-floor observation deck.

Figarelle, 29, and McArthur, 24, met in an anatomy class at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Celia Milton, the interfaith minister who married them, said that Figarelle invited McArthur out to see a drag show and McArthur thought she meant a drag race.

"Needless to say she was quite surprised," Milton said.

The two work as personal trainers in Anchorage and are finishing their degrees.

Figarelle was married in a black tuxedo while McArthur wore a strapless white gown with a train.

Figarelle said she hopes the couple's home state of Alaska will legalize same-sex marriage, which became legal in New York last year.

"Equality's a beautiful thing," she said. "Love is a beautiful thing. We don't have enough of it in this world."

New Yorkers Phil Fung and Shawn Klein walked up the aisle to the strains of the Michael Bolton song "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You." The men wore matching brown suits and checkered ties.

They met 18 years ago at the Roxy, a popular Manhattan nightclub that has since closed.

"You can find true love on the dance floor. It can happen," said Klein, 51, who works in procurement at New York Presbyterian Hospital while Fung, 49, works in the technology department of a financial firm.

The decor for the women's nuptials was "winter wonderland," said Cowie, the host of a wedding planning show on Lifetime TV. The flowers were white, and crystals dripped from a white tree.

The men were married under a jungle-inspired arbor draped with banana leaves and tangerine-colored flowers.

The other two couples were heterosexual: Angela Vega and Lubin Masibay of San Francisco and Paula Cubero and Enrique Catter of Greenwich, Connecticut.
