Dolphy remains critical but stable

King of Comedy Dolphy (or Rodolfo Vera Quizon Sr. in real life) remains in critical condition at the Makati Medical Center as of Thursday morning.

Dolphy's son Eric Quizon said his father's condition is somewhat better, but still critical.

"Actually ‘yung daddy ko parang nag-stabilize siya. So ‘yung condition niya of course hindi pa rin siya natatanggal sa tinatawag nating critical state. Hindi pa rin siya pinaalis doon. But somehow nag-normalize ng kaunti," he said in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita on

Thursday morning.

"Mas maganda ‘yung lagay niya today. So far ngayon, ‘yung oras na ito, mas maganda ‘yung lagay niya kaysa exactly 12 hours ago. Although hindi pa rin siya talaga tinatanggal doon sa sinasabi nating critical state," Eric said.

"Iba talaga ‘yung power ng prayers," he added.

Eric said that members of their family are taking shifts to watch over their father. "Meron kaming mga shifting. Parang mga two hours, two hours. Pagka merong medyo inaantok or medyo nagugutom or ano, talagang nagpapalit-palitan kami," he said.

He shared that although the doctors say Dolphy is not in pain because of his medications, it is still difficult for the family to see him in the ICU.

"Of course kapag nakikita natin ‘yung mahal natin na nandoon sa isang ICU at meron mga tubes na nakadikit, siyempre nag-aalala tayo na baka may nararamdaman siya... Ang sabi ng mga doktor wala siyang nararamdaman but of course he's going through a lot," he said.

Eric added that his siblings in America are set to come home to visit their father.

"Natawagan namin ‘yung ibang mga kapatid namin sa Amerika. ‘Yung ibang kapatid namin magsisiuwian talaga at pinipilit nila na talagang makasama pa ang aming mahal na ama," he said.

“[The doctors] didn’t really give us a specific window [of time]. It can happen anytime," Eric said in a previous report.

Dolphy was brought to the hospital on June 9 because of pneumonia. The comedian suffers from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

On Thursday, Malacañang asked Filipinos to pray for Dolphy.

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb wakes up from coma, says spokesman

LONDON - Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has woken from a coma and responded to members of his family, his spokesman said Saturday.

Gibb, 62, contracted pneumonia and fell into the coma last week. He is suffering from colon and liver cancer.

His spokesman Doug Wright said Gibb had been able to nod and communicate with family members who have been at his bedside at a hospital in west London.

He did not give further details.

The British star's wife Dwina said this week that the singer's brother, fellow Bee Gee Barry Gibb, had been singing to Robin to try to rouse him.

His three children had also been playing music to him, she said.

The Bee Gees -- twins Robin and the late Maurice Gibb and their elder brother Barry, 65 -- are among the biggest-selling groups of all time.

Robin Gibb had bowel surgery 18 months ago but a tumour was found and he was diagnosed with cancer of the colon and the liver.

In February, Gibb said he had made a "spectacular" recovery from his treatment, sparking hopes that his cancer was in remission.

Gibb was too ill to attend last week's premiere of his first classical work, "The Titanic Requiem", composed with his son Robin-John to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking.

Bee Gees star Robin Gibb in a coma as his family keeps bedside vigil

(CNN) -- Bee Gees star Robin Gibb is in a coma and has pneumonia, the latest turn in health issues that include a recent battle with colon and liver cancer, according to a message Saturday on his website.

Doctors believe that Gibb, 62, has a secondary tumor, his representative Doug Wright said, confirming a news account in The Sun in the United Kingdom. Gibb had emergency surgery in 2010 for a blocked bowel and then had more surgery for a twisted bowel, Wright confirmed.

"We are all hoping and praying that he will pull through," said the message on Gibb's website, which noted that reports "are true" about Gibb being in a coma and having contracted pneumonia.

News of Gibb's condition elicited a flood of support on social network sites and in the music community.

Peter Frampton, who like the Bee Gees rose to fame in the 1970s, wrote on Twitter, "My positive thoughts go out to Robin Gibb and all of the Gibb family. I am wishing you the best and hope for a quick recovery. Much love 2 U."

Others offering their thoughts and prayers online included Julian Lennon, the son of John Lennon, and former Jackson 5 member Jackie Jackson.

Diane Warren -- who herself has written and produced dozens of popular songs for a wide range of performers, including Aretha Franklin and Justin Bieber -- described Gibb as "one of the best songwriters of all time."

Robin Gibb's twin brother, Maurice, died in 2003 of a twisted bowel.

Brother Andy died at age 30 from a heart infection.

The Brothers Gibb -- calling themselves the Bee Gees -- soared to renown as one of the most successful British groups after the 1977 film "Saturday Night Fever" starring John Travolta was built around the group's disco songs.

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, the Bee Gees have sold more than 200 million albums, and their soundtrack album to "Saturday Night Fever" was the top-selling album until Michael Jackson's "Thriller" claimed that distinction in the 1980s.

While often in the background as brother Barry sang lead vocals, Robin Gibb stepped forward on several top tunes, including "I Started a Joke" and "I've Gotta Get a Message to You." He also recorded several solo albums during his career.
